Financial Need
So get this. Apparently I can't get a job because I don't demonstrate 'financial need'? What the fuck is this bullshit? I've been living on my own since I was 18 and the only funding I had to go to university last year was OSAP, which I spent all of for that year. I was able to get a job that year (regardless, it seems, of the $7k I had in savings at that point) but I wasn't able to get a job with the same program this year because I had $10k in savings. I managed to save $3k over the entire summer and somehow this means I am no longer in need. School is even more expensive this year than last with their estimate being $15k. FIFTEEN! If that were true (which it isn't) then I would have $6k left in savings (from working my ass of since I was 18) meaning I'd have less than I did my first year. Which brings me back to my title statement of "what the fuck?"
Anyway, I know most people would argue that most students have no money at all and I would agree. I'm one of the rare few students who exercises control when it comes to spending, and our peers are always telling us to save our money because we'll be thankful in the end. Well look where it got me. Fuck.
Well, I'm not actually as mad as the above would seem to suggest as I'm 85% confident that I have a job at the sports centre here as the videographer for games. It's still annoying though, that was a lot of paper work that I had to fill out.
